Ningombam Bupenda Meitei, a Congress spokesperson in Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee, has extended his full support to defend Congress leader D. K. Shivakumar who is under arrest by Enforcement Directorate. Considered a troubleshooter in Congress, Shivakumar was Water Resources Minister in Karnataka Government.
Bupenda Meitei wrote, “I stand with Shri D K Shivakumar. His arrest has vindicated the political vendetta of BJP. Since he is a Congress man, he has been arrested.
I am confident that justice shall prevail and our entire Congress is with him.” He also extended solidarity to Shivakumar on twitter.
It is learnt that Bupenda Meitei went to Bangalore to seek Shivakumar’s guidance before 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
Recently, Ningombam Bupenda Meitei was arbitrarily and illegally removed from Philosophy Guest Faculty in Manipur Central University for his association with Indian National Congress.
